Faculty


In 2014 our faculty was led by Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau.

Our faculty members were not just speakers, they lead sessions, participated in panel discussions, lead workshops and held private, pre-bookable meetings with delegates wishing to discuss their own individual challenges and projects. The faculty was a mix of ICCA members and Association Clients.



Jarno de Boer
Managing Director
CIMGlobal - Congrex Holland

As Managing Director of CIMGlobal - Congrex Holland, Jarno is heading up a team of over 25 association conference professionals. He loves to work with different cultures and in ever changing environments. As PCO, he is used to being involved in every stage of the conference process:  from bidding to on-site delivery; and from budgeting to networking structures. With this in mind, Jarno is keen to share his knowledge of the meeting industry, the ongoing changes and challenges, and future developments. Jarno started approx. 12 years ago in the field of research/sales and moved on to more general management positions within our industry. As a Faculty member, his passion lies with another form of “PCO” : People, Challenges and Opportunities.

Célia Galeotti-Wulf
Events Team Leader
European Wind Energy Association (EWEA)

Célia has worked in the MICE sector since 2003. Based in Brussels since 2006, she has worked as Marketing & Events manager in both medical and industry associations. As corporate marketing and conference officer at ECCO-the European CanCer Organisation, she has gained a lot of experience in event and sponsorship management. Since 2011, Célia has worked for the European Wind Energy Association, in charge of all event operations (around 20 events/year).  She is specialised in the coordination of large conferences and exhibitions (10.000+ participants, 400 exhibitors, up to 10.000 sqm net exhibition space) focusing on innovative ideas and sponsorship management. She holds a master in business management and speaks English, French and German fluently.

Gerrit Heijkoop
Executive Partner
How Can I Be Social -HCIBS-

Gerrit Heijkoop is an entrepreneur with a passion for technology, events and public speaking. A familiar face in the international meetings industry as speaker, moderator and interviewer; both on- and offline. Known for his enthusiasm and always striving to keep matters simple and meaningful. Gerrit is involved in the international FRESH community, board member of the Green Meetings Industry Council (GMIC) in the Netherlands and active blogger. Since January 2012, he has been Executive Partner of How Can I Be Social (HCIBS), a digital communication agency, all about sharing inspiration.

Karen McMain
President
International Orthoptic Association (IOA)

Associate Professor of Clinical Vision Science, Dalhousie University Past President, Consortium of Ophthalmic Training Programs,  Past President, Canadian Orthoptic Society. She hails from the east coast of Canada from Halifax, Nova Scotia where she lives with her husband and two children. The IOA for which Ms McMain is president is a professional association representing approximately 10,000 members from 24 countries. The most important event in the calendar of the Association is the scientific congress which is held once every four years. The XIIIth International Orthoptic Congress will be held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, June 27-30, 2016.

Christian Mutschlechner (Faculty Leader)

Vienna Convention Bureau

Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau, Christian is this year’s RSMP ringleader, motivator and challenger! With over 30 years in the meeting industry, he is well versed in discussing the changes and challenges we currently face in the market, as well as the predictions for the future of our industry. As an advocate of knowledge sharing and collaboaration, he would like to pass on his experiences, both the positives and negatives, to assist you in your career. Within his capacity as the faculty leader, he will ensure that the delegates beneift as much as possible from the resources available at the RSMP.

Yvonne Nassar
Head of Marketing & Innovation
Amsterdam RAI

Yvonne Nassar is Head of Marketing & Innovation at Amsterdam RAI convention centre. In 2010, she set up the marketing & innovation department covering market research, marketing & communication, project management and innovation. 
Yvonne began her career with Dolce Hotels & Resorts, where she started up sales and marketing departments in the Netherlands and UK. Later on she became responsible for Marketing and PR in Europe and was based in Paris for 7 years. Yvonne returned to the Netherlands in 2008 to start the continental Europe marketing department for an international recruitment company.

Finn Raben
Director General
World Association of Research Professionals (ESOMAR)

Finn Raben is a “third culture child” who was born in the Far East and grew up in Europe and the Middle East. He went to university in the Netherlands and Ireland, is an Honours graduate in Languages, with Post-Graduate degrees in Business Administration & Marketing Management and speaks four languages fluently.

He has spent most of his working career in Market Research, and prior to joining ESOMAR, had worked at Millward Brown IMS in Dublin, AC Nielsen, TNS and most recently at Synovate.
Since joining ESOMAR, Finn has worked very closely with the ESOMAR Council to ensure the Society implements continuous improvement & innovation in its member services, thus ensuring it is “fit for purpose” for the next generation of researchers. Finn is an ex Officio Director of MRII, the online educational institute partnered with the University of Georgia (USA); he serves as an external examiner at the International School of Management in Avans University (Breda, NL) and has recently been invited to join the advisory board for the Master’s of Marketing Research programme at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

 
James Rees
Executive Director
ExCeL London

James currently holds the position of Executive Director at ExCel London; the cities premier events venue, hosting a huge portfolio of conventions, exhibitions, meetings, sports and entertainment events and host to 13 sports at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. Additionally, he is responsible for the commercial strategies of Excel London’s conference and events division, developing a strong national and international clientele in London’s largest conference and exhibition center and only international conventional center. 
James is also chair of the UK & Ireland Chapter of ICCA; a position held since 2008 and was appointed as an ICCA board director in 2012 with a wealth of experience in the industry from a career spanning over almost 30 years.

Martin Sirk
Chief Executive Officer
ICCA

Martin Sirk was appointed as ICCA CEO in July 2002 after thirteen years in a variety of senior meetings-related sales and marketing positions with ICCA member companies, and seven years prior to that at the start of his career as a leisure tourism marketing specialist with the British Tourist Authority (as VisitBritain was then known). He has worked in Hong Kong, the USA, the UK, and for the last decade has been based in Amsterdam at ICCA Head Office, but travels extensively in all regions of the world to engage with ICCA’s global membership of approx. 1,000 companies and organisations. He has extensive experience working in national and city destination marketing organisations, congress centres, and with a leading global hotel brand, and is an acknowledged expert in the design and organisation of international congresses and the trends that are shaping the future of the meetings industry.

Ian Whiteling
Editor
Meeting the World

Pioneering journalist, editor, video presenter and digital marketer Ian Whiteling co-launched Meetings Review, one of the first video-led online business-to business web channels, back in 2005 to serve the corporate and association travel and meetings marketplace. He's now managing editor of new travel and meetings web channel Meeting the World and founder of content marketing agency three-sixty.

Marta Wisniewska
Coordinator
Gdansk Convention Bureau

Marta Wisniewska is the Coordinator at Gdansk Convention Bureau and a recent recipient of the ICCA Best Marketing Award in 2013. Marta is one of the top, young meetings industry professionals in Poland, and has contributed to part of Bid Committee for 2017 ICCA Congress, is an MPI Member and FYP attendee. With her experience in the meetings industry, passion for networking and great intuition Marta can be an inspiration for those who are just starting their career in the meetings industry. Thanks to her fresh ideas about how to stand out from the crowd, Gdansk Convention Bureau is one of the most active CVBs in Central Europe.
